Art Reveal: Operative Nine's Redesign

Meet the final incarnation of Operative Nine! His face is part of Operation Phoenix and his outfit design was a part of our planned art revamp, funded by fans. The art revamp was created with a goal to better represent the characters in a post-cyberpunk world, now that we had the time and funding to do so. You will be able to see Nine’s new look by Chapter 04’s release.

Please look forward to the detailed art and concept notes in the To the Edge of the Sky artbook, which will begin being created once the main story is finished.

Nine’s new design was conceptualized by Ajané J.K. Celestin, acting in an Art Director and Character Designer role. Some of her notes on it are as follows:

Nine’s new outfit was meant to exude leadership, and a cool, mysterious aura. I knew that it had to be long above everything else. I had some difficulty imagining a formal suit in a futuristic context, but thankfully I was working with the talented Dowwart who took the outfit much further than my concept. For his face, I wanted his eyes to contrast and hold your attention, as well as give him a bit of his own flavor. I thought he should be “soft” and piercing” all at once, and of course, elegant. XiaoHui decided to give him some piercings and I approved, feeling they brought added visual interest and edge to his design.
